Address: Russell – Orongo Bay Holiday Park, Russell Road, Russell, New Zealand
Visit Russell-Orongo Bay Holiday Park and enjoy the sub-tropical climate of the Bay of Islands, and the best weather in New Zealand at the picturesque Bay of Islands Maritime Park.
Described as ‘The Anglers Eldorado’ by the American writer Zane Gray in the 1920’s, the Bay of Islands is still the most well known and favoured site for sea fishing in New Zealand. The Bay of Islands consists of 144 islands, and includes Urupukapuka Island where an extensive program of reforestation is taking place to attract native birdlife.
Located 1.5km from the entrance to Russell Village, Russell-Orongo Bay Holiday Park is your ideal base for all Bay of Islands cruises, tours, fishing, beaches and walks. Day trips to Cape Reinga depart from Russell and can be booked at the park. Paihia is 20 minutes, Kerikeri is 40 minutes, and the West Coast just over an hour away. The park is conveniently adjacent to the walkway to Russell Village and bush/forest walks can be taken from and in the park. Situated in a kiwi and weka protection zone, our park offers abundant native birdlife, including rare and endangered north island weka and native bush/forest.
Russell-Orongo Bay Holiday Park is located in a sheltered and tranquil environment, yet is only a few kilometres to Russell and its range of galleries, museums, cafes and restaurants. Some camp sites are secluded, while others are in the bush, or offer sea views. For those who have not tried camping and are a little unsure, or those who do not have camping gear, try ‘glamping’ in our tipi!
Russell-Orongo Bay Holiday Park offers a range of roofed accommodation options, from budget with shared amenities, through to a self-contained 2 bedroom bungalow. Relax and enjoy some of the most beautiful and unspoiled scenery in New Zealand.
