Wide Bay Getaway is a tranquil glamping retreat on the Fraser Coast situated 10 minutes from Maryborough, created by long-time locals Steve “Macca” and Nickey who fell in love with the area’s historic charm and natural beauty. SWAG: THE AUSTRALIAN PROMISE – AUSTRALIAN DESIGNED & ENGINEERED
Did you know that over 50% of all caravans sold in Australia are now imported? In fact, a staggering 90% of products installed in all Australian-made caravans are manufactured overseas and imported.
At SWAG Camper Trailers we don’t conceal the fact that our campers, hybrids and off-road caravans are partially constructed and imported from China. But it’s what we do before construction commences and after the chassis and frames arrive in Australia that sets us apart from other manufacturers.
To ensure SWAG stays relevant and competitive in this ever-changing industry, the decision was made to transition the business to what’s referred to as “Second-stage Controlled Manufacturing”.

OUR CARAVANNING STORY: Dan and I travelled around Australia with the kids (now adults) navigating from the back seat. Mary and George would check what services were available at different sites in our Camps 4 Book, Dan would ask if the regions industry seemed likely to have suitable work – we did all sorts of different jobs from milking cows in a dairy in Queensland, pen riding in a feedlot in NSW, carting hay and feeding cattle in Victoria, covering grapevines in Tasmania to serving in hardware and managing a caravan park in WA. There are too many amazing travelling experiences to note all, however some highlights were snorkelling in Ningaloo Reef, Christmas Day complete with a homemade gingerbread house on a houseboat on the Ord River, in the Kimberley’s and fishing on Fraser Island (Kgari). We left Qld with the car and the family caravan. We returned to Qld with a load of experiences and memories and understanding and tolerances and acceptance just in time for high school education when we invested in Resort Management rights at Peregian Beach.
10 years later, the travel bug returned. Dan and I worked around the rural regions of Meandarra, Longreach, and Yaraka Q, where our families still are. We found some beautiful camp spots and waterholes along the way.
Now we own Trinity Islands Holiday Park on the banks of the Burrum River, Qld. We want to share with others what we have come to value throughout our life experiences….spending time with family and friends in nature, being outdoors, chatting, playing cards and cooking on a campfire, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing within the ecosystem of our native wildlife. Fish, Lizards and Birds of many species and kangaroos live here too!
We hope guests will Relax a while and experience the natural beauty of the Fraser Coast. During the winter months, whale watching from Hervey Bay is majestical. Hiking, fishing, swimming and exploring Kgari allows a deep connection with nature and it’s restorative powers. Lady Elliot Island is also a favourite place of ours…a nature based eco experience of snorkelling with manta rays, reef sharks, loggerhead turtles and an abundance of fish species, a day trip is easily accessible from Hervey Bay. There is also Lady Musgrave cruise day trips from Bundaberg. Bundy has the best rum and ginger beer! A drive through the food bowl around Childers is inspirational. Beach driving and fishing via Woodgate is spectacular (and not as busy as Noosa North Shore). You can surf the longest waves at Double Island point or visit Noosa just a couple of hours from here. Howard bakery has the best bread and really good treats! Brisbane is only 3 hours away and Burrum Heads is beautiful with a genuine local community.

Kui Parks was founded based on the needs and feedback of adventurous travelers in Australia. Through research, we discovered that many travelers are on a budget and find traditional holiday, family, and destination caravan parks to be expensive. These parks often offer a range of facilities and amenities that some travelers don’t necessarily need or use, resulting in paying for services they don’t fully utilize. Kui Parks aims to address this challenge by bringing together a network of caravan parks that offer what travelers truly desire: well-maintained parks, cleanliness, friendliness, and excellent value for money. These smaller to medium-sized parks, often owner-operated, provide exceptional services that may not be widely known or easily found by travelers. Our goal is to bridge the gap between these great but lesser-known caravan parks and the thousands of adventurous travelers seeking affordable and enjoyable experiences. By becoming a Kui Parks member, you gain access to this curated network of parks, allowing you to enjoy the journey and adventure without compromising on quality or breaking the bank. Joining Kui Parks is easy and affordable. You can secure a membership for 2 years for just $40 or opt for a 1-year membership at $25, inclusive of GST. Memberships can be purchased at any of our member parks or conveniently online. With a Kui Parks membership, you gain the knowledge and access to these hidden gems, ensuring that your caravanning experiences are not only enjoyable but also budget-friendly.
